Tadzuka Youth Program
Empowering Youth in Malawi through Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship
About the Tadzuka Youth Program
TTAYA is a youth led program that seeks to economically empower the youths with the resources needed to finance their agribusiness enterprises. The TAYA program has two components. The Youth Agribusiness SACCO and the Agribusiness VSLA. Together, the two programs work towards the goal of mobilizing savings from members whilst providing a lending platform for the Youth affiliated with the program. Under this program, young people with passion in agriculture came together to form an association which acts as a vehicle for providing support for its members. The association leverages the collective action of members to raise the resources for managing its operations, undertake collective marketing of their produce and proving social support to each other in the areas of health, environment and community development. However, realizing that the savings mobilized cannot be sufficient to finance larger scale business operations, the members can tap from the Youth Investment fund.
The purpose of this incubation program is to support the development of the businesses owned by the youth, test the proof of concept, and establish the business's internal structure, enabling it to grow. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment, access to resources including finance, assistance in transforming your ideas into viable businesses, guidance in navigating the challenges of starting a business and business mentorship. This will increase the chances of building successful and sustainable enterprises The You for investment program is a platform for financing agribusiness ventures being undertaken by the youth. The program finances innovative ideas for startups and growth-oriented SMEs using a crowd fund model. Through this program investors pool resources into a dedicated fund for supporting youth innovations in agribusiness. Most Innovative ideas are then selected through a transparent and rigorous manner. The SMEs are then provided with an equity partnership option which allows the secretariat to own a stake in the business. In return, the profits and losses realized from the business are distributed in accordance to the agreed profit-sharing arrangement.
