About the Youth Agribusiness Hub
Youth Agribusiness Hub MW (YouHub) is a local platform for empowering young men and women who aspire to venture into agribusiness, as well as existing agribusiness enterprises that seek to grow their business ventures. At YouHub, we provide an incubation space for Youths within the age groups of 18-35 in order to hone their skills in agriculture and Agribusiness; whilst preparing them for investment readiness. YouHub also serves as a platform for linking incubates to high level programs/initiatives that would enable them to access markets and finance through our affiliates and partners.
Currently, our programs focus on Capacity building through Trainings, Coaching and mentorship in agribusiness Management; using virtual as well as physical platforms and, Facilitating B2B, B2C and B2G trade Expos for our incubates in order to link them to markets and other service providers. We recognize that There’s a lot of untapped potential for creating self-employment for youths in agriculture through agribusiness. Yet the majority of youths in Malawi are shunning away from the agriculture sector, citing lack of financing, business development support, lack of innovations in agriculture and that agriculture is for the old aged and hence unattractive for the youth demographic dividend. Young people want to be associated with “Smart” interventions in agriculture which incorporate new technologies. We believe that if the mindset of the youth is transformed to look at agribusiness as a profitable venture, capable of providing decent work and creating more employment, many young people with enter into the sector.
